About me

I have practised art in many areas including painting, ceramics and  illustrations.

I grew up Hobart in Tasmania (Lutruwita). In the last few years I have walked through many of the island’s forests which prompted a  focus on trees. I also began to notice neglected suburban trees in the Western suburbs (Wurrundjeri Woi-wurrung) of Melbourne (Narrm) where I now live, and  have drawn inspiration from them.

In my recent paintings I have painted the sculptural limbs of tall trees using the drama, light and dark (known as chiaroscuro), perspective and glazing more often seen in traditional church paintings. I am suggesting that the sublime as well as life, death and regeneration can be experienced in the forest and, if you look up, along suburban roadsides.
